It would be a really bad idea to start over with Superman, IMO. Besides, his dark side was already explored in Superman III, right? What they really need to do with these heroes is focus on action and super powers, because that's what people really want to see. Not teh emo.

TDK, Iron Man, X2, the first 2 Spidey films... they were successes not just because of the special effects, but because they understood and fleshed out the characters.  It's not about being Dark, it's about being relatable.

TDK seems like a hard movie to follow. I'd love for it to happen, but i can see where he wouldn't want to do it. no matter how good it is, there's going to be detractors "baaawing" about how it's turned the franchise to shit.
