I was just thinking about movies I really liked but were otherwise lukewarmly received by critics and everyone else.  Lets name some.  Not cult indie hits either, fairly mainstream.

lets see here are some of mine.

I love this medicore movie:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090728/

Whenever it comes on, even if it is an chopped up edited version playing at 2:00 in the morning, I have to watch it. Even though I have it on DVD.

I have a couple hundred mediocre movies that I think are quite good. And many completely terrible ones that I absolutely love.

Transformers 2
I went in expecting a Michael Bay movie. It was a Michael Bay movie. I got just what I expected.

Terminator: Salvation
Plot holes, sure, but I liked it.

The Island
Another Michael Bay movie. It was just as I expected.

Mystery Men
My had told me he got up and walked out of the theater because it was so bad. It got terrible reviews. I love it, I think it does have somewhat of a classic following, but was not well received when it was released.

Seriously.  the sum of the individual parts are >>>>>>> the whole
There are plenty of great scenes big and small, but for some reason watching it as a 2 hour movie made it tedious.  Its infintely quotable and well written.

this would have been classic as sort of a 1/2 hr comedy show, or even better as 10 minute webisodes.  it just wasn't a good feature length.

Love Mystery Men!  I want to get a bunch of people together and go as that group for Halloween.

Hudson Hawk, The Fifth Element... yeah- Bruce Willis is highly underrated.

"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?

It gets a 7.4/10 on imdb, and was nominated for an Oscar.  (sound editing)  It won a bunch of awards in Europe.  huh.  Also chosen as the opening film at Cannes in 1997.

Most people I talk to about it dislike it.

Deep Blue Sea
Daredevil

Deep Blue Sea is one of my all time favorite movies, but not because of the movie. I went to see it with my sister and the dude sitting next to her freaked out and attacked her. It was the hardest I've laughed during any movie ever. I think I've told this story here before.
