I think I need a video card

I'm trying to get Timothy's computer up and running, mostly so I can steal it from him and give him mine (after I clear out all my midget porn).

It's been sitting for a while now.  Here's the deal.  When I turn on the monitor without it being plugged in the video card, it comes on just fine.  When I plug it in, it shuts off.  I tried using my monitor, because I know it works, and it does the same thing.

The power light comes on on the tower, and the fan is running, so the computer is doing SOMETHING, but I can't even tell if it is actually booting up.

I think it's the video card.  Unfortunately, my computer has onboard video, so I can't swap cards to test it.  I went to buy a cheap card tonight, but the cheapest I could find was $50, and I don't want to pay that much when I'm not even sure that's the problem.

Any thoughts?

Does your computer do any unusual sequence of beeps when it boots? Many computers will have different sequences of beeps when it first comes on to indicate a hardware failure during the power on tests.

I don't think it beeped at all.

I'll have to boot it up again tomorrow and see what it does.
