What should I buy?

What should I buy/cook/stock up on before my tonsillectomy?

I'm not sure, but I think my sister in law and/or mom will stay with me for a few days (the doctor says I'll need it) and mom can cook but the sister in law...not so much.

Obvious:

ice cream
popsicles
juice (non citrus)
soup (but I hate canned soup)

jello and pudding are good, but I can't have soft drinks at all.  No bubbles, no citrus, no spicy stuff.

I eat the individual Kool Aid jello packs.
Mashed potatoes and gravy.
I agree with the milk.  It will settle your stomach when you aren't hungry.
There are several different combo apple sauces.
Get soup from a Chinese restaurant.
Yogurt.

I'll ask them if they'll pop you out a kidney while they're in there.  It might be kind of out of their way, though.

if i recall you'll be really mucusy.  I would say no on dairy.  Soup really is the most palatable for your throat, but I didn't eat much.  And I really enjoy eating.

That's how it was when I had my eye surgery several years ago. I had to pay the portion that my insurance didn't cover before they would fix my eyeball.

She doesn't.  Sonic has smoothies and you don't have to get out of your car.

My mom and sister in law are gonna have to go on smoothie runs, because I'm going to be doped up.  I need to buy a blender before the surgery so they can make me slushies here.

If you don't feel like blending something buy a few Gatorades and freeze them and stick them in the microwave for about a minute when you're ready to drink them.  Shake it and you have a slushy.  I used to do it at work all the time.
