Our neighbors (who we've lived across the street from for years and maybe exchanged 10 words with) asked us over for dinner tonight.  I need a hostess gift.  Normally, I'd take a nice bottle of wine, but I have no idea if they drink.

Any ideas?

Infobahn

Seriously:  A good bottle of virgin olive oil.  or a plant.

You can never really go wrong with wine...it is the thought that counts.

Maybe a after dinner wine...or some kind of dessert.  I would suggest Moscato d'Asti or vihno verde and a cheesecake.

Gamplayerx

Hmmm.  Maybe I'll send Grumpus out for some wine and see if I can find a really pretty olive oil.

A shrunken head.

While an absolutely fantastic idea, I don't think I'd be able to get it by tonight.  And I'd hate to show up empty handed.

How about a nice flower arrangement or a good port.

You could bring the "dessert," if you know what I mean.

Infobahn

Something with "whipped cream," if you know what I mean.

This would have been a fun game, had it caught on.  If you know what I mean.

It was a fun evening - 4 sets of neighbors.  I feel badly that we've been here for so long and really not made much effort to get to know our neighbors.  The food was amazing.  They served this raspberry chipotle pork that they grilled.  I've never really had pork - it was unbelievably good.

It's probably a good thing we didn't take wine - I think they polished off like 4 huge bottles.  And some chilled Italian lemon liquor.  Good thing everybody only had about 50 feet to make it home.

Infobahn

You ate PORK???  OMG!!!

I know!  And (this is the real shocker) it was so good, that I'm almost tempted to go buy some and grill it myself.  Almost.

Yes, yes.  Same animal.  But I really had only had it in the bacon (yummm) or ham (ewww) formats.

Sorry.  No orgies.  And no drunken (on my part).  I don't like wine.  I did have a taste of the lemon nail polish remover.  And 2 beers - but they were yicky fancy beer not nice, lovely Miller Lite.

DownSouth

I love you a lot for that.  Effing hilarious.

You, and whoever changed Nallen's title.  I never knew he was so giving.  Or receiving.
we should have kept the quote pyramid up to rape Jessie in the face.
