You know, I think that if there was a person you didn't like, and you handed them Wasabi Peas and a Vernor's ginger ale, and told them to inhale the smell of Vernor's through their nose and then take a bite of the Wasabi Peas and then exhale through their nose, you could kill them and totally get away with it.

They need a Saturday morning cartoon that's got Kirk and Spock and Bones as kids, kinda like Muppet Babies.
Underneath this flabby exterior is an enormous lack of character.

The idea of a Star Trek Academy show has been bandied about for a long time.  I've always thought it would be a cool idea, and certainly something to break that franchise out of the rut it's in.

only if they put gonzo in but act like he's just another ST alien

ReBurn

If they would take Star Trek away from Rick Berman and give it to someone with some form of original creativity the franchise might be able to make a comeback.

I don't know how I feel about this.

I believe J Michael Straczynski (or however you spell it... the Babylon 5 guy) has said he would do Star Trek, but again, it would have to be taken away from Rick Berman, who has murdered it.

Give it to the people who write the novels.  Give it to the people who do Hidden Frontier.  Give it to ANYONE but Rick Berman.

I will never understand the Star Trek upper pantheon's obsession with the time before Kirk?  They built a pretty damn compelling universe with plenty of interest in it with DS9 and Voyager.  They're just idiots.  Who the shit cares what happened before Kirk?  Who wants to see the Romulan war? meh.

Dry then Catch

I'd like to see them close the 5 million floating plot lines in TNG

Listener

The Romulan War is a pivotal point in Federation history.

HOWEVER... if you REALLY want to see some great Romulan stuff, pick up Serpents Among The Ruins by David R George III.  Not only does he make Captain Harriman (of the Enterprise B) not suck, he explains the fabled "Tomed Incident" that's been referred to in TNG and DS9 for 15 years or so.

What it really is will shock the hell out of you.
