Help!

Ok, my brother's POS computer is now driving me completely insane.

I don't know what happened to it when windows was being installed, but there is NO WAY to change the resolution from 640x480 and 16 bit color.

Do I need to reinstall XP?  Would SP2 fix it?  Why did the chicken cross the road?

the video card drivers probably need to be updated/reinstalled.  Find out who makes the video card, and go to their website for new drivers.

I actually tried that the other day, but the driver part was grayed out, too.  Maybe I can find something at Dell Support.

well, you're a Mac user, aren't you?  If you have problems, all you have to do is turn the damn thing upside down and shake it to clear everything out.

It'd probably help if I had some clue WTF I was looking for.  Might they have some generic driver, since I really don't know the specifics of the video card.  In fact, it's onboard video, so that leaves me even more confused.

Is it a stock Dell, or has it been modified?  If it's stock, look for the service code, and enter it in on the support site.  They'll tell you what's onboard.

Dells have a sticker that has the "Express Service Code" listed on it.  Side or back of the tower, bottom of laptops.
