Miss Molly

I'm sort of ashamed at the sheer volume of crap I have.  I'm talking accumulated trash and baubles and shit that I have no earthly idea WHY I took with me instead of throwing away.

I'm trying to get a way-way-head start on my future possible move by paring down.  So much crap to throw away.  Sigh.

Gamplayerx

If you haven't touched, looked at or worn it in 3 years, it goes.

My wife won't throw anything away.  She still has textbooks from college that she thinks will somehow be useful in the future.  Neverminding the fact that she graduated in the summer of 1999.  I'd really like to get rid of some of them, but she won't allow it.  At least they're in huge tupperware bins in the garage, and not in the way.

I have some of my college books in my dad's attic.
we should have kept the quote pyramid up to rape Jessie in the face.

I donated all of mine to my fraternity.  At least, the ones I couldn't sell back.

I hate math books; they're $85 - $105 each (sometimes more), but only sell back for $5 to $10 because the books are renewed every semester or two.

Actually, while cleaning (I have a tendency to pack away shit in bags and purses and booksacks), I found my sex textbook.  I've been looking for it for over a year.  I thought I lost it.

Gamplayerx

Oh.  I should mention, do as I say, not as I do.

Hehe.  Actually it's Human Sexuality Today.  More of a psych book.  But it's got all sorts of awesome pictures of STDs and whatnot in it.  Very thorough text on the physiology and psychology of sexuality.

Me and my wife have been prepping each room (we have a white board with a check marks by each room we have finished) for moving. Our goal is to get rid of at least 50% of our stuff. Most of it goes to Goodwill, but we have had piles of full trash bags next to our full trash bin at the curb each week for the last six weeks. It's amazing how much useless stuff accumulates. We now have a "No Stuff" policy for gifts. If it is not something that is a consumable, it had better be a very useful thing for it to stay in our possession.

Miss Molly

where do you live, and what kind of stuff are you getting rid of?

I'm hopefully soon to be venturing out on my own, and need stuff.  hehe.  If you're willing to give it away, I'd be willing to pay shipping, if it's not too huge.

BigDun

We live in Memphis and the Goodwill stores are full of our discarded stuff. Most of the stuff we gave away were things we inherited from our parents 25 years ago. We did finally get rid of our couch that matched Catchr's couch because no one wanted it. It did weigh about lbs so I don't think anyone would have wanted to pay for shipping.

That's what Timothy weighed when he was born.  He was also about inches long.

I'm pretty sure this is the kind of thing that started the contests we have on Junto.

Oh snap.  I could totally do a give-away thing.  Goddamnit though, I don't have a digital camera to take pictures of cool things. Grr.  Maybe I can borrow someone's.

Also, I'm chummy with freight companies since I ship... and you'd be surprised at shipping for 300 lbs of freight.  I bet I could have gotten it shipped for approx. $100.

You could get a futon couch/bed thing for about that much.

Miss Molly

I already have a futon couch/bed thing though.  I need furniture and a-cooter-mints.

Jessie

Who doesn't need cooter mints?

Last time I checked I didn't need any.
