I press the button, and it pops out a tiny bit, like less than an eighth of an inch, and then pops back in.  I've tried prying it open, but I don't want to break it.

Help?

Y'know that tiny little hole on the front?  Unbend a paper clip (one of those heavy-duty ones, not the wussy little ones) and poke it in there.  Then hook the drive drawer and start pulling.

the gear is stuck. This happens a lot.

there should be a little hole under the tray. Get a paper clip and press it into the hole about an inch. It should pop open and hopefully it will get back on track.

If that doesn't work bring it to me and I'll fix it for you. It's not hard, it just takes a little time to open it and reset the track.

careful not to pull it too hard or it will break.

Yes, the paperclip in hole worked.  But it didn't get "back on track."  The closing mechanism still works, but it won't open again sans paperclip-in-hole.

Going to see if it still burns.

Ooped, typed too soon, closing mechanism no longer works either.

Think it'll still burn or the whole thing is poo?

Miss Molly

Sigh.  I lied again.  It's back on track.

That happens pretty often with cd drives. They are cheaply made. It should still burn fine.
