Wizard of Oz meets Alice in Wonderland meets one hell of an acid trip.

The art direction was great.  The movie was pretty amusing.  And I can't believe that Stephanie Leonidas, who plays Helena, is 21...

The little things, the "throwaway" gags... they really made the movie.

And that was the weirdest cover of "Close To You" I've ever seen.

I think it's cool that they made it look like McKean's actual artwork.

I'll see it when it gets here.

What date is it going to be released nation wide?

I don't know that it is getting a full release.  Last I heard, they were just going to platform it to arthouse theaters.

Go to mirrormask.com and see when/if it's coming to your town.

I know it opens in Seattle this friday.

It doesn't appear to be opening in a theater near me in the current schedule. I guess I'll check back later for more locations/dates.

I don't know if I'd buy it on DVD.  I enjoyed the movie but not really enough to own it.  At least not til it's on the "used" pile.

It is jaw dropping gorgeous to look at, but the story isn't particularly compelling.  Still, the production design was more than enough to keep my attention.  It was robbed of an Oscar nom for design.

Alice

The visuals are incredible.  The story is lacking, sadly.

Yeah, that's basically what I thought of it.  The visuals were a little too dark (in terms of lighting) in places, but otherwise very nice.

Did you know Valentine's shirt and stripe on his mask are purple, not brown?
