So... I have been lusting after a 3D printer for months now. The last generation of consumer affordable printers were kits that required a month of time to assemble and then were "finicky" at the best. The current generation of printers is what I would consider the Gen 1 of consumer level devices. Do they still require some adjustments like leveling the bed using turn screws? Yes. Do they still have issues if you try and print a 5" x 5" box without it warping? Yes. But this is what I would consider the "Gen1" devices by the fact that they are plug and play. I removed my Afinia H-Series from the box, took about 15 minutes to remove the packing clips, installed the software and was printing within an hour.

So far I have printed a few boxes. One a stackable box, one a slide lid box, one a screw top tube. All would be excellent for using as stash boxes for my soon to be awesome collection of legal recreational weed. HA, HA, HA! Suck it losers who don't live in either Washington or Colorado! I WILL BE STONED OUT OF MY GOURD PRINTING OUT PIECES OF PLASTIC CRAP!

Not really. I kind of burned out that stuff when I was much younger. One of the side effects of living in a deeply southern state that was also a dry county.

Someone at work who has to take pills both before and after every meal she eats has asked me to create a box that has two separated sides with a slide box lid that she can use to keep in her purse and would replace her current little steel boxes that keep opening and spilling her pills all over her purse.

We are thinking of setting up a minimal e-commerce website (my wife is a ecom developer) and getting word of mouth to use it as an excellent part time business to write off my hobby's expense.

That is really cool.  I don't understand how they work, but still cool as shit.
we should have kept the quote pyramid up to rape Jessie in the face.

Clearly I'm too stupid for this thread.  Does this printer print things you can put on 3D objects like wraps or does it actually squeeze out a box or something?  So tech-challenged.

Infobahn

It actually squeezes out a 3D object.  It is pretty cool.

Time lapse video of a 3d printer (different brand than mine) printing out a plastic model of a skull.

"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?
