A child can go only so far in life without potty training. It is not mere coincidence that six of the last seven presidents were potty trained, not to mention nearly half of the nation's state legislators.

When we first moved in, we had to have a plumber replace the faucet assembly in our guest bathroom's shower/tub combo unit.  He had to cut a square hole in the wall.  We kept meaning to fix it, but never bothered.

It's been four months.

The piece of wall that he cut out is placed carefully in the hole, and it sits fine unless one of the cats knocks it down.  Obviously, we'll fix it eventually (before we have kids), but for now, it's not a priority, even though you can see it right when you walk into the house and go up the stairs.

Is this bad homeowner etiquette?

ReBurn

Don't worry.  Four months will eventually turn into four years.  You'll become accustomed to seeing that way, and probably actually start to like it.
11:42:24 [Gamplayerx] I keep getting knocked up.
11:42:28 [Gamplayerx] Er. OUT!

sugar_grrl

You should just put saran wrap over it and call it fixed....
Have you ever seen a llama kiss a llama on the llama?

Gamplayerx

I'm not a good one to ask when it comes to completed home improvement projects.

The thread title makes me feel like I'm 8 years old again.

Jessie

I'm humming the song.  Doo Do do do do Do do da da do do do.

We have a hole in our wall from when we had to get to the pipes in the tub of our master bath...it has been there almost a year.  Mostly because I am the designer and I am not good at fixing stuff.

I even had to look it up on google. I don't know this song.
Underneath this flabby exterior is an enormous lack of character.

My wife had never heard the comeback "up your butt and around the corner" until a couple of years ago when I used it... now she won't stop...

Not familiar with that one.

So spit and spin, buddy!  Or perch and rotate, if you prefer.

I guess it makes sense to porn actresses...

On the bright side, you'd never have to worry about losing your umbrella.

Jessie

The umbrella story really needs to be retold.  There are many who do not know it, and it is one of the greatest ever.  I mean seriously, it rivals the bible for the title.

(boy, I bet everyone's pissed for me bumping this thread and getting the song stuck in your head)

A recap:  when we moved in (4/28/06) we had to get the faucets in the guest bathtub replaced, so the plumbers had to cut a big square hole in the hallway wall to replace them.  For six months it sat there, the piece of drywall (fortunately they were good plumbers and didn't cut the studs) balanced in the hole.  In October, I went out and bought the spackle, sealing tape, and piece of wood to brace the drywall in place with.  It all sat in the basement until yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon, I finally screwed in the wood, attached the drywall square, and spackled it all down.  Now it just has to be sanded and painted (which can wait until we move out).

I feel manly.  It's my first major home repair that I did myself.  I've always been able to fix little stuff, but this, for me, is big.

Oh, and good work for getting a home repair done.  Those of us who do such things for a living are notorious for not bringing our work home with us - myself included.
