I'd like to see some new Philip Marlowe movies. With someone like Clive Owen.

ooo- Ursus and I try to cast those movies too.  We haven't come up with anyone for Marlowe yet.  Hrm.  Clive Owen.  I will ponder that.

My favorite is The Long Goodbye with Elliott Gould.

Elliott Gould as Marlowe??

Underneath this flabby exterior is an enormous lack of character.

It would be better if they'd stuck to the original story.  Grr.  I hate that.  It's a perfectly good book, why jack it up just for the movie??
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?

Beefy

The Long Goodbye is a weird one.  Robert Altman clearly detested the mystery/detective genre, and it shows.  And yet his film works somehow.

I was unaware that it'd even been made into a movie.  I wonder if I could convince Ursus to rent it?  He's not a huge Gould fan, outside of MASH.

I think Elliott Gould is underrated and made a lot of good movies back in his prime.

*Gag!*

notnotnotnotnotnotnot

Some yutz fron NYC trying to tell me what LA is like? That's not funny, it's a travesty.

I know Bogey isn't an Angelino, but he's got the right kind of cynicism. Gould is too post-...
I was just wondering...

If you were online, didn't care that you'd missed the first 30 minutes, and got the Sundance Channel, The Long Goodbye is on.
