Well, hell.  I shall belay my hyping.

Minor spoiler:

Claire will not be appearing at all in Season 5, but will return for Season 6.

Jessie

I don't even remember half of those people's names at this point.

I seriously find it hard to care at this point.  it inevitably draws me in, but I am less intrigued each successive season.

why doesn't their facial hair ever change.  How does Sawyer maintain his 5 O Clock shadow for 39 days

Has no one mentioned to you that it's a magic island?

Beefy

They've shown several characters shave on the island.

YAY

Believe it or not, I've stayed away from most spoilers about the season opener.  I've read some interviews with the showrunners about how they're going to handle the overall season, but in a general way.

That said, knowing how they like to open their seasons with a bang, and knowing some of the things they have to start addressing, I have some predictions for possible ongoings tonight.  I'll smallinate it and you can all call me a loser when I'm wrong.  Heck, you're already calling me a loser anyway.  I thrive on your vitriol.

- They will establish early on that is not where the island went but when.

- The usual character flashbacks and forwards will be gone as the show becomes increasingly a series of back and forwards through time.  (They have hinted heavily at this so it's not much of a guess)

- There has to be a surprise cameo, someone you don't think you'll see.  They love doing that.  I'm guessing someone from Season 2 - Eko, Ana Lucia, or Libby.

- Jack will be annoying

- Jin is alive, but did he move in time with the island or is he wading out in the middle of the ocean?  That would be funny, actually.  Or maybe "alive" has no real meaning anymore since you could just pluck him from a time when he was alive and bring him forward.  They could have fun with it.

- I bet it becomes even more confusing than ever with all the time hopping.  Last seasons big time hoppers with Desmond (especially) and Farraday (to a lesser extent) are probably good indications.

- We'll see either smokey or the foot, but only one of them.  Still no explanation.

Any guesses from you?

Beefy

Oh, and I bet with Kate and Jack off the island, Sawyer starts going shirtless a lot more.  Have to keep that sex appeal quotient up.  Maybe Juliet will get in her skivvies.

Is that how you spell skivvies?  Firefox isn't marking it as misspelled.  Looks weird to me.

Jessie

haha I read that as Sawyer walked onscreen shirtless, and they started DISCUSSING him being shirtless.  HAHA

Also, the Dharma dude is a terrible actor.

Candle wasn't very good, but it makes you wonder who is son is.

Show is kicking ass so far.

Love the frenetic pace and short commercial breaks.

This is going to be as bad as Heroes as far as alive/dead goes.

Totally different.  Lost has established ground rules.  Heroes never did.

Beefy

Tonight is weaving through the previous seasons with wondrous glee.

Beefy

I love this show.  Have I said that before?  I really do.  Flaws and all.

Alice

I watched the first hour with my mom.  Then I left, because she kept trying to explain everything to me and both she and I were getting exhausted by it.

It was the first episode I've seen, I think.

There's no point in coming in now.  Start at the beginning or it's pointless.

Jessie

The first season was the best, too.

I would have agreed at one point.  Now I'm not so sure.  The scope has gotten admirably bigger.

That's a good question.  I was just all excited that I predicted they were going to see the statue.

eo000

not my theory.

They've pretty much established that you can't change anything.  Well, Desmond can, but no one else so far.  So perhaps this event shapes the personalities of certain people down the line.

Dry then Catch

finally caught up.

remember when this show was an unsettling mystery, where you couldn't be sure whether the supernatural was at play or just unreliable protagonists?

not just Donnie Darko retread with plot twists for the sake of plot twists.  still very entertaining, but I'd say jumped the shark early season 3

Beefy

It officially got complicated for me last night.  Sheesh.  I need a guidebook or I have to start taking notes.

Gamplayerx

Last night's episode made Grumpus, well, grumpy.  I thought it was good, but he thinks they're gearing up for way too pat of an explanation.

Jessie

Every old person on the show is a father to some younger person on the show.  They're all related.  It's incest.  That's what's causing all the problems.

What an asskicker last night's finale was.  And the night after Fringe's asskicker finale.  Sad to see it over.  Thankfully, Wipeout is back in two weeks.

Jeff Goldblum is dating ben's daughter.

A clever man commits no minor blunders.

Seen on a Facebook profile:

My boyfriend got every DVD of Lost for Christmas, and has been catching up on all 800 seasons while I finish the book downstairs. I've never seen the show, but I've been listening to it for hours. I'm pretty sure it's about breaking twigs, screaming animals and a baby. There also appears to be a tuba.
