While I think the out of state wine law is stupid, it is a -state- law, and frankly, SCoTUS shouldn't have stepped in.  It's a small thing, but it is, in effect, the Gov't telling the States what laws they can and cannot have.

Actually I think the SCoTUS found that laws preventing states from shipping alcohol was in violation of Article I, Section 8, Clause 3 of the United States Constitution. And since the Constitution supersedes all state law, they simply said that those laws were null and void.
