Our dogs love their crates. We rarely actually close the doors on them, but if they do have to be locked up, they don't mind at all.

I hear children are the same way

And just like dogs, they'll still love you later.

Crates can be very, very good for dogs.  Lots of them love them because they have their own private place to go where nobody will bug them.
