This is very cool- especially since the author lives here in Lawrence.  I'm going to set up a time for her to come talk to my knitting group.  :)

Jessie- how's the scarf?
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?

Jessie

It's not very long right now.  Maybe I'll get some work done on it tomorrow.

Good!  I'm anxious to see pics.

I'm making a hoodie.  I was working on the Jayne hat, but I goofed it up so I have to take some of it apart.  I'm not up for that right now.

Heh- I'll see how long it takes and how hard it is to make this one and let you know...

I have 5 rows done so far.  I'm making it out of "fauxhair"  (fake mohair)

Thank you.  I was going to do it earlier but I didn't want Dazie's wrath.

dazie

It's a neat article!  She goes to northern India and helps kids and knits them sweaters.

And she lives in Lawrence.

That's cool.  You are all just dorkyboys.

oh dazie I forgot to tell you! When I was doing the snow parties I brought my scarf and we put it on the snowman that the kids built. They all thought it was a very nice scarf.

And then when the snow melted, it was carried away by scavenger animals never to be seen again.

I always loved the idea of knitting.  I'd love to be a knitter.  I tried it once - and it sucked.  No knitting for me... I still like the *idea* of it though.

Bishamonten

I've had a strange urge to knit lately.

I bet I could teach you how to knit if you were interested.

I'm learning.  It's time consuming and makes my hands hurt, but I like it.  I haven't been doing it for the last week or so though, so I need to get back into it.

I appreciate it, but my aunt taught me once.  I just didn't care for it.  I've got really, really shakey hands - and it just ended up frustrating me.

freaking hysterical, even if you don't knit.  YOu'll have to go backwards through the past posts, because they've stopped updating it, but it's worth it.

This pic didn't come from that series of WTF DID I KNIT? stuff, but rather from an email I received today, from a yarn manufacturer.

As a knitter and dog owner, I want to apologize to any dogs that are unlucky enough to have people who think that sort of thing is cute.

I rarely take Bruce out in public when he's wearing a dog sweater - but he actually *loves* to be clothed.

dazie

Sweaters I'm good with.  China needs a sweater because she's scrawny and has a thin coat.  But honestly- a lion's mane?  Ruffles?  Embarassing.

Oh God.  I don't know what's worse- the dog or the crocheted washcloths they're passing off as "sweaters"

An acquaintance of mine makes her living knitting dog sweaters for Max's Closet (http://www.maxscloset.com/). It's big business!

Take it one step further, and make yourself a Fido coat:  http://www.amazon.com/Knitting-Dog-Hair-Better-Sweater/dp/0312152906/sr=8-1/qid=1170471856/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-0108110-3617554?ie=UTF8&s=books

And if you want to read another hilarious knitting blog, check out http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/

Did I mention I'm a serious "knitting enthusiast"?   :)

Jessie

I've been knitting, and I like it, but don't do it enough.  I need to learn more than basic stitches, i suppose.

I think that the only "stitches" are knit and perl. It's the way you combine them that makes them special.

Wow, just typing that makes me feel so emasculated. Time for a beer.

This project requires use of short rows, cables, knitting into the rows below, joining by knitting on, and some simple embroidery. Simplified instructions are included when possible. The techniques are not too difficult, however.

Too bad I don't know how to do any of that except simple embroidery.  :(

Awesome. I sent it to Mrs. Dun. Bish needs to try this pattern. It definitely butches up the hobby.

Bish needs to be making booties and blankies right about now.  Plenty of time for shrunken heads.

When is that little demon spawn due anyway?  Soon, right? I mean BABY.  When is the BABY due?  Or was she already born?  I'm terrible with these things.
