My mom called for Publisher help, I have no idea how to use the program, so I couldn't help.  And her IT guy is just as helpful.

She's trying to switch a publisher file into a .pdf file... however, the .pdf file is not supporting the transparancies in the Publisher file.  Any idea what's wrong?

I know how to use publisher, but I don't know if I've ever created a pdf with transparencies.

Publisher is an MS product, a cheap desktop publishing program. 

What program is she using to create the PDF?

Publisher can't make PDFs on its own, it needs another program (Like Acrobat Professional, Distiller or third party PDF makers)
So, what is your Mom using to make the PDF within Publisher?

Publisher can make PDF's on it's own, because she has the PDF's.  It's just not allowing the transparency.

We had a problem like that with Corel. I downloaded CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com) and that fixed our problem. CutePDF is a third party PDF creater that installs as a printer so it works with almost any program.

I know very little about Publisher so if that doesn't work I got nothin'

Publisher can make PDF's on it's own, because she has the PDF's.  It's just not allowing the transparency.
I have the latest version of Publisher, and there is not a native option to make PDFs on its own.  You need to install Acrobat (not the reader, but above) to get it to get PDFs out of it.  It is not native to Publisher.

I understand there will be some native PDF burning in the Vista version of Office.

Maybe, if you're willing to don a dental floss thong, you could have mom e-mail you the file, and then you could e-mail it to Infobahn, and then he could convert it to pdf and e-mail it back to you.

I have her address, and her Amazon wish list.  She really is going to have to WANT the dental floss.  It will not be thrust upon her.
