Okay, so apparently one of my students brought in her iPod over the weekend and left it hooked up to my office mac.  I can't seem to figure out how, if it's even possible, I can copy the songs on it to my computer.  Can anyone help here?  I definitely can't drag-and-drop, and I have no idea if the content was purchased from iTunes, ripped from her collection, or downloaded illegally.  It's probably a combination, but it won't let me do anything with them but listen.  help?

I am pretty sure you need Itunes to do anything on the thing.

Bennyhana

Yes, I have iTunes, and I have it open.  I can play the songs on it, but it won't let me drag and drop them.

It's probably just as well.  The RIAA wants to throw you in jail.

I have my iPod set up as a data storage device, and it has an icon for the folder on the desktop. But even then, I have to have all the music stored in that folder if I want to move it to the computer. It keeps a separate, invisible folder for the music it uses.

You can always hack into it and make it visible, but I don't know how. I'm sure google can help with that.

It would be funnier to change the iPod to play the music in your iTunes. It should ask if you want to do that when you open iTunes.
Underneath this flabby exterior is an enormous lack of character.

I saw a program at BestBuy that would allow you to copy your music from an IPod to your PC. I don't know if it was Mac compatible.

iu was going to throw in my two cents in, but i realized its only when you d/l music off itunes.  I was gonn refer u to the program called jhymn, which concerts the itunes protected file format into a mp3 w/o stripping its protection.

oh well.
"if I wank to it, will u feel disgusted or flattered or a perverse combo of both?"

Well, that pretty much solidifies my resolve not to buy one of those overpriced fuckers from Apple.  It's pretty retarded that you can't just drag and drop them-either in iTunes or from its folder on the desktop.  I mean, who's to say that they're not music that she or someone she knows wrote that she actually WANTS to spread around?  <sigh>.  Thanks anyway, guys.
