I need help selecting a sofa

I actually llike the slip cover idea.
From browsing the website I'm not too sure how it works with pillows (which form most of the backing).  Won't it still look slumpy and beat up even if its in a slip cover?

this couch is about modular but has 6 units.  with each seat consisting of a square cushion and rectangluar back.  So thats 12 cushions.  Covering all of them seems like it may cost $400 or more, is that worthwhile?

If the couch looks squashy I don't know what new slipcovers would do.  It'd be pretty and clean, but still squashy.

think you should re-cover it. i have the same modular.. 6 pieces and an ottoman that i bought for 400, but the frames are wicker.  i had mine recovered for 500 and for 75 extra they gave me new foam cushions.
modulars are fun to move around....

you probably should get a futon. go to a futon store in your area, NOT ONLINE, and look at wooden frames NOT METAL.

the wooden frames are simple, usually in a mission style, which means "nice, but you don't notice it". you can choose the comfort level of the futon itself and the kind of cover. if the cover gets fucked up, you get a new cover.

if you have a sofa, and people sleep on it - it will get fucked up. if you have dogs on upholstery - it will get fucked up. this way, you have furniture that can be slept on, and furniture where replacing the upholstery doesn't mean 'reupholstering'.

a good looking futon frame with a good quality cushion and a decent cover is probably going to run about $600. i don't know prices for your area, but that's close.
