Tim has a formal tonight, and we were not thinking far enough ahead so we didn't order a corsage for his date.  Then we thought "OO!  He should give her a lei!"  (He's wearing a "formal" Hawaiian shirt with black slacks)

Do you know that it is impossible to find a real flower lei in Lawrence Kansas?

So I made one.    It's hot pink and white, with rose leaves between the flowers.  I got the leaves for free, which was a bonus, and the flowers cost $12.  I think all told it cost about the same as a corsage would have, and I can guarantee she'll be the only one there with one!

No.  She got it cut short early this year. 

Well, the lei was the hit of the dance.  Evidently I'll be asked to make more for the next one.  *lol*

I'm not sure why Tim is doing the Frankenstein thing, but they're having fun.

Interesting.  I was talking about the dance with a woman at work and you'd have thought Tim wore a thong speedo to the dance and gave his date a necklace of live snakes.  "Well, all the OTHER boys were in TUXEDOS!"  and there was kind of a sniff at the lei picture.

Um, no, not all the other boys were in tuxedos.  I have photographic proof if she wants it, but I don't really care.  Tim looked nice, his date was pleased with the lei, and anyone who wants to play dress code police can just stuff it.

No.  She works here and raises pigs on the side.

Not that I know of.

Much of one of her pigs is in my freezer at the moment.

Oh, and I don't think her daughter went to the dance.

Ursus pointed out something...  Tim WAS dressed formally.  Shoes & socks, plus the kukui nut lei he wore is considered to be a "fancy tie" in the Hawaiian culture!
