Title: Video Editing
Post by: Infobahn on September 22, 2012, 05:00:43 PM
So, I have a Mac again.  First time in 18 years.

I have a license for the Cloud version of Adobe Suite, which includes everything, specifically Premiere Pro.

So, do I learn what I have, or buy Final Cut Pro.

Thoughts?

I learned Premiere CS3 in about a week. It was a pretty steep curve, but once you got mid way up, it wasn't too bad.

Both can do the trick for most normal edit jobs.  A lot of straight to DVD movie makers have moved away from FCP to Premiere since Adobe finally caught up to the functionality of FCP and has less quirks.  That said, we've found at work that FCP works better for the really expansive edit jobs.  For most users, it seems to boil down to personal preference.  If you go scan the various boards on the Net, you'll find groups who swear allegiance of one over the other.
