One of my favorite candies of all time are Brach's strawberry oval-shaped hard candies with strawberry-flavored goo inside. Kind of like a candy version of a Halls-with-liquid-center. They come in a foil package printed to look vaguely strawberry-ish, with a twisted-shut green foil top.
They're AWESOME. I am to these candies what Decapodians are to anchovies.
I mentioned to this guy (http://www.11alive.com/whatson/whatson_article.aspx?storyid=75228) -- who isn't nearly that goofy-looking in person -- that I was totally surprised that he had them in his candy dish (he keeps a candy dish in the newsroom for all to peruse; one of the other reporters keeps a tub of pretzels for whomever wants them).
Today he brought me a small handful. For this, he receives my seal of Mild Approval(tm).
Brach's doesn't have them on their website. That makes me sad.
I used to love those. I didn't know they made them anymore. Maybe he just gave you really old candy.

They taste pretty fresh. The old ones get crusty white stuff on them, and these were shiny and pink.

Maybe you're allergic to a coloring. I found out that I'm allergic to Blue 4 - which is so strange. My roomie always got these headaches from certain drinks... she found out she was allergic to one of the red colorings.

Oh that sucks. I'm that way with cold milk... I can't drink ice cold milk or I get ill. But a little above room temp is fine.
