Title: Is there a more well-balanced meal??
Post by: WileE on May 06, 2006, 08:52:08 PM
Than Chili Dogs and Beer?  I think not.  You have the bread group, the beer group, the vegitable group (saurkraut, chili beans, pickles), the condiment group, and the meat product group.

It just doesn't get any better than this...

...unless you could have chili dogs and beer and sex.....that would be better...while watching hockey...that would be cool too.

;D

You're missing your dairy.  Slap some grated cheddar on there.

The local German food-a-teria has an awesome healthy meal - a beer list the size of a Victor Hugo novel, and meat on platters. If you can stuff it into an intestine and then into an oven oh man is it on their menu. Side dishes are potatoes and sauerkraut.

Plates of meat + Victory Cabbage + German dark beer = Gaseous Kevin of Hindenburg-like proportions

I felt clean the next day, though. Like someone had taken a pressure washer to my colon.

I think a gyro with everything is the perfect meal. It has salad, onions, grain, that sauce, uh, ambiguous meat.

At what point is sauerkraut "Fresh?"  I mean, the second you dig it up, or does it have a couple of months?

tough call.   considering that fermentation is mor of a controlled rotting process.  Let me define,  fresh being taken out of its commercial packaging and devoured. ( and yes alice, exploit that however is needed LOL)

I love that stuff.  No grocery store within about 10 miles of my house sells it.  I've checked.  Even Whole Foods and Fresh Market don't have it.  (Although our local FM doesn't carry yuca chips either, which gamp and I both agree are mega-delish, so, y'know...)

So make it.  TOTALLY EASY.

Get some plain yogurt, mix in some shredded cucumber and LOTS of garlic, maybe some cracked black pepper.  Bingo.  Tzatziki.

I like to make it really thick, so I drain the yogurt for about a day by pouring it in to several layers of cheesecloth and letting the whey (no whey!) drip into a bowl.  After a while, the yogurt will be the consistency of soft cream cheese.

I had no idea.  Most of my cooking is of the main-dish, simple-yet-effective type.  The most complicated food I cook is Chicken and Interesting Vegetables.
