Title: Pot Roast
Post by: Listener on February 12, 2006, 10:14:11 PM
Tonight I made pot roast.  It was pot-roast-a-licious.

I did learn, though, that it needed about another hour and change in the cooker, to properly soften the sliced potatoes.  Otherwise, it went well.

I hope hers is better than my dad's.  That man can kill a piece of meat like nobody's business.

Hers is pretty good.  I don't know where the recipe came from.

I think it comes from the Central Jewish Knowledge Bank:  Married Woman Section.  All Jewish women can make an excellent brisket.

Maybe there was interference on the channel on the day you were supposed to get the download.

I seem to have missed the entire cooking download.

Our dogs are getting older and not eating well, so I have started cooking for them. Here is the recipe that they all seem to like:

1 lbs cubed stew steak
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 can (drained) Veg-All
3 cups brown rice (makes 9 cups when cooked)
1 package of Wyler's Beef Stew mix

It's very tasty. I recommend it for both dogs and humans.

I don't have dogs, but my parents and sister give their dogs dog food + apples + carrots + whatever leftover beef or chicken they didn't finish the night before.

18 years ago, when I got a dog (when I was living at home), she got kibble and the occasional table scrap.

Mine too.  One gets the occasional french fry when we do bring them home, because she likes them.  But she's the only one.

When my dogs are sick they get boiled hamburger with white rice.  Very bland, but they still get protein.  I don't make them stew, though.  For that they would have to get a job and pay some rent.
