Title: good food, no stomach
Post by: Listener on January 20, 2006, 03:48:47 PM
I stopped off at Publix on the way to work to pick up food for lunch and dinner.  Got some good stuff.  Also got some stuff for tomorrow since we have no food at home.

Since I got to work, I have eaten one container of blackberries and a snack-sized bag of yuca chips.  I keep wanting to go to the fridge, but I'm not hungry.

Dammit.

You need a lollipop.

Why?
It always helped me to chew gum or suck on candy instead of snacking.

Ah.  Point taken.

I'm using my willpower for right now.  I have to make too many phone calls to chew gum or eat candy.

I have a completely empty fridge, which is just as well as I can't taste anything even if I was hungry.

My wife has been complaining the last three days that we have nothing in the house to eat.  But last week, when I cooked her a pound of chicken cutlets so she could make sandwiches with them or eat them for dinner, she only ate about 1/3 of the total amount.

*sigh*

If I got home at a decent hour, I'd actually make dinner.  I used to make dinner at least four nights a week when we lived in Florida, six if you include the weekends.

Where can I find one of these men that not only know how to cook but enjoy it?  I think I got a bad deal.

Terry not cooking doesn't even make the top 50 list on "Why Sapph Got a Bad Deal".

That's a strange way to make a whistling noise.

It's like the people who can whistle through their fingers... but with stinkier air...

I don't know... Gamp seems a very cleanly type.  I bet her "stinky air" smells a lot better than a lot of people's breath.

I love to cook. I also enjoy the challenge of making a large meal with lots of different dishes and having them all be finished at the same time so they all come to the dinner table hot.

That's where the real skill is in cooking.  I love to cook.

I dunno why dispise cooking so much.   Depending what your making it can almost be theraputic.  Taking the time to create something starting with nothing and having it become a delicious meal.   Sure, its nice to open a box, pop ip into the microwave for a few minutes and be on your merry way, but its not as enjoyable.   Jessie can attest ( and anyone else with kids) its actually fun to have you kids right ther with you helping you measure, mix, pour, etc.   They get a good sense of accomplishment from helping mom or dad and its fun to have them help you, seeing the enjoyment in their face.

Threadbump.

I have the last of my leftover pot roast sitting in the work fridge.  I want to eat it so badly.  But I'm not hungry, and I'm not going to force myself.

5:00.  If I'm not hungry by 5, I'll eat it.

*grumble*

Why on earth would you eat if you're not hungry?

So I don't get to the point where I'm starving and then overeat.

Didn't matter anyway.  I got hungry about 10 minutes after I posted the thread.

Mmmm.  Leftovers.
