I'm looking for a dip I can make in the crockpot and take to a party. Any suggestions? I know there are tons of recipes out there, but I don't know which one to choose.

Motherlode! :o
Have you tried any of them? Do you think Helix's chicken wing dip would work in a crockpot?
This one looks tasty:
Lynn's Pizza Dip
From Diana Rattray,Your Guide to Southern U.S. Cuisine.
INGREDIENTS:
* 1 large package (8 ounces) cream cheese softened
* 1 jar pizza sauce (16 ounces)
* 1 small can chopped or sliced ripe olives
* 1/2 cup chopped onion
* 1 pkg. sliced pepperoni
* 8 ounces shredded Mozzarella cheese
PREPARATION:
Spread cream cheese in bottom of slow cooker/Crock Pot. Then mix up the pizza sauce, onion, olives and pepperoni and spread on top of the cream cheese. Sprinkle with the pizza cheese and cook on low until the cheese on top melts. Serve with tortilla chips.
You could add other pizza toppings to this or delete some that are listed.

OK- has anyone you know made them and let you taste it?
I'm not even certain if I know anyone who owns a crockpot. But I'm sure they're all delicious.
*lol* Jessie and I have them...
I picked one with ham. mmmm. Ham. I'm putting it in a bread bowl and baking it, not crockpotting it though.
Another for the future:
2 bricks of velveeta
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 lb of Spicey breakfast sauasage
1 onion
1/2 green bell pepper chopped finely
1/2 jar or 1/4 cup of sundried tomato
4 cloves of crushed fresh garlic
2 cans of rotel tomato
3 finely chopped jalapenos
1a) start heating the cheese in a separate container, preferrably the crock pot. If it goes slowly, turn up the heat but pour in the cream of mushroom to keep things from burning
1b)sautee bell pepper and onion
2)cook meat in the remains of veggies, then drain the grease
3)combine all ingredients and stir until well blended
4)cook till everything is a slightly runny consistency
Total process is about 2 hours for serving so do the dishes and clean your kitchen while stirring ever 5minutes and heat at about 3/4 power.
People will rave about your dish and wish literally pull up chairs near the crock pot for quicker access. I've made it three times and all three times had to give away multiple recipe copies.
**Additional variation that I haven't tried yet would be to throw in 2 packs of philly cream cheese after everything else heats to proper thickness.
isn't it really spicey with all the jalapenos? (sort of a wuss)

You can turn the temp up or down by adding or removing spicey items from the recipe. I prefer the extra spicey breakfast sausage and then you don't need jalapenos. Between the meat and the rotel sauce, it gets solid kick.
Best Crockpot recipe ever:
One block Velveeta
One can Rotel
Stir occasionally until Velveeta is melted. Serve with tortilla chips.
You should probably double that recipe if there are more than four people eating it. You can also get fancy and add a pound of pre-cooked and well drained ground sausage.

That's ok- I wrote it and I see "USO Crotch Pot Dip" and all I can think of is "Good Morning Vietnam!"
It makes me think that Dazie has some weird crock pot sex fetish.

It's all your fault. You got me started on appliances in college. First the toaster that Brian set on fire, then the multiple blenders we wore out in the office... now crockpots. WHERE WILL IT ALL END!

Jimmy Dean sage sausage works really well. Just cook it up like you would ground beef. Drain, add, and enjoy. Mmm...

Whoop! Award winning pizza dip.
2nd place in the "Dip Off" at my work.
I seem to get 2nd a lot. I'm going to have to try harder next time.
