Title: Cranberry Season
Post by: Listener on October 24, 2005, 04:10:20 PM
Looks like it's cranberry season again.  Little sacks of Ocean Spray raw cranberries sit in my grocer's produce department.  Nothing like 'em for shocking the hell out of you.  Better than coffee, and better for your kidneys.

I'm happy now.

I LOVE making things with cranberries.  My favorite is a cranberry/apple/orange relish.  I use the leftovers in cranberry bread.  YUM.

I love cranberry juice, but I find the berries much to tart to eat outright.

I've never had.  I had a taste of that stuff that comes out of the can at Thanksgiving one year.  Wasn't a fan.

comparing the canned stuff to the glories of actual cranberries would be like comparing spam to the glories of actual bacon!!!

That's a very good analogy.

Although what my grandma can do with canned cran, canned oranges, and some other stuff... wow...

since you're a fellow hardcore cranberry fan, you should check out the *unsweetened* cranberry juice that knudson's has out (in a health food store near you). they also have unsweetened blueberry juice, which i adore.

it's pretty expensive, even by organic juice standards, but the cranberry juice is *so* deliciously intense!! it's got the jolt of a very very strong cocktail... it's like cranberry sippin' whiskey!

Not so much a fan of the juice, but if I get a chance i'll give it a try.
