Title: Sick pug update
Post by: criscodisco on March 16, 2005, 06:49:07 PM
I few days ago I posted a rant in the rant section about how unfair life is and general emo whining.  It all revolved around one of my grand-puppies, Josie, from my kid's second litter.  She was on life support status post complications from pregnancy.  Here she is, jumping the child gate I had put up to keep her out of my bathroom while I was painting the walls;

(http://img132.exs.cx/img132/2574/josie0cn.jpg)

Well, last night I watched them extubate her (meaning they took the tube out of her throat that was hooked up to a maching that would breath for her, as she was no longer doing that on her own), and she kept breathing!  As of this morning, she was walking and even ate a bit of food this afternoon.  At this rate, she'll be going home by next week.  I'm so happy I can barely type.  In fact, this is the second time I'm typing this very post, as I already got jittery and hit the back button on my mouse, erasing everything I had already written.

They lost the puppies, but that's unimportant, because she's alive.  While they were removing the puppies, Sandy, her owner, had them go ahead and just neuter her, so that this would never happen again.  The puppies were alive when they removed them, but weren't even responsive, and they weren't developed correctly at all.

Sandy had her on a high-protein diet before her pregnancy, and apparently if your bitch is on a high-protein diet, you have to take them off of it the minute they get pregnant, as it can seriously jack up their bodies during gestation, which they think is why she went into renal failure.  They believe that her body was directing all of it's fluids straight to the womb, which is why she became so dehydrated, and her womb was so overly full of fluid, which affected the puppies developement.  They're autopsying one of the puppies this week, so we'll know for sure, but at this point, I don't really care, since she'll be coming home.  Just in time for this;

There will be a total of 14 pugs here, all family, (my girl has had 3 amazing litters), and I really wasn't sure whether or not to have it, with Josie laid up in the hospital, but now that she's gonna be fine, it's cotillion time!

She actually could jump it from a standstill.  That link is the best thing I've clicked today, and I've spent the afternoon looking at porn.  I love the little boston terrier (?) in a pug costume.  It's killing me.

That's so cool you dog is doing so well. It's a tough decision to let your pet go but it's wonderful you got the gift of her recovery.  I'm happy for you and the pooch.

That BT rocked.  I actually spent some time talking to the owner and petting it.  The closet thing in personality i've found with a pug is a BT.  Have you been to a pug get together Crisco?

No, I've never been.  I really want to, though.  Every year I ponder going to the pug rescue carnival they throw here, but the thought of seeing all of those homeless pugs is too overwhelming.

Will you make your dog have puppies (if it's a girl, and NO, don't get her pregnant yourself) and overnight me one?  K, Thx!

both my dogs are male Jessie.  it would be wrong of me to wash them in the shower if they were female and unmarried.

don't rememebr whose crotch that was and I'm kind of glad I don't.

i am the one in the first two pics, the dude pulling the shih-tzu length, yet pug curly tail.

that dog was calm like a shih-tzu at first, but if you got him riled up he went pug nuts and started whining and licking everything.
