Heh. I have 75 pages of photos I took upon move in.
I have 75% of my check in list marked "other" (as in- I can't tell you if it works, it's laying on the floor)
We're going to ask that they fix the windows, especially those that are held in with tape. ::)
Later we're going to ask that they fix the plumbing. And the electrical. See- I have the official inspection report. I know what's wrong with the house. ;D
I had to call about my apartment today because the knob to turn the shower on blew out of the wall this morning.

Did it shoot out and hit the wall? Cool.
It shot out but I caught it. There was lots of water shooting out of the pipe where it was supposed to be.
Fun times.

That happened to me with a showerhead once. Almost killed me. You're lucky to be alive!
I didn't see my life flash before my eyes, just the knob.

Do they have circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each
one was?
The last time I made an Alice's Restaurant reference, it fell so flat I'm scared to try it again.

So the guy actually came here. ::) They're not very good yet at this whole property mgmt thing.
Turns out WE know more about the house than HE does. But he's got it on his list to fix our windows, and check out the lake that forms in the driveway. I'm good with that. He's also going to have all the trash hauled out of the garage so we may actually use it for the car. Maybe.
Ursus informed me that the first owner died in the house, and will occasionally show up. Nice! I can't remember her name, starts with an M. Hopefully she's ok with what we're doing with the place.
why not have her ghostly ass take out some trash if she is going to stay rent free

I'll ask if I see her. ;)
Bastards halfassed the work at my apartment. I'm gonna call them back now.

Only if she scrapes the crust off of it first.

No FREAKING way do I want some weird chinless whorey ouija board in my garage. (that's where the party is)
Well, spent much of the day doing repairs to the back door sill, in order to keep the outside OUT when it pours down like it did today. Ugh. We've got caulking all over. *lol* AND a big thing of plastic sheeting over the outside of the door, just in case.
It rained so hard in the past 24 hours that my entire "computer room" floor was wet. :( If I hadn't had a throw rug it would have been ugly. As it was, we still needed to put down every extra towel and sheet.
Hopefully the caulking will help.

I don't think we have that much caulk left...
I keed. :)
His response was "But we're not having beans or onions tonight- what's the point?"
I think by doing the legal thing I may be doing the bad for me thing.
I am pondering buying my house, as you all have heard a million times. However, it desperately needs new wiring, to the point where it is indicated on the inspection report that there are illegal splices.
As you can guess, my landlords haven't done anything about this.
Here was my thought- if I'd purchased the home outright, it was listed "as is" so I'd have no recourse in getting things fixed. However, I've rented/leased it since last summer, so technically it is still their responsibility to make sure things are legal, right?
I called up the city to find that out, and they're going to send someone over to look at it. Evidently my landlord company is not in good graces with the city anyway, so things may get interesting.
Now I'm all paranoid that the landlords will get pissy and there will be some retribution, which is not legal of course, but who knows!
AACK.
your landlords need a good cuntpunch. If only they were midgets we could send alice over.
Landlord needs to have it fixed if they have tenants. I understand the As-Is Buy option, but you'll probably have to commit to the same repairs in order to get a loan. It's their responsibility to have it fixed now, unless you want to pay up front and try to get reimbursed after taking them to court on it. "As-Is" isn't meant as an out for the landlord to avoid repairs, it is just so the tenant/buyer absorbs any damage they've done.

Cool- the electrician (from the landlords!) showed up today to scope things out. He'll be back out on Tuesday to fix all the illegal stuff.
