I never got that into it. It made me laugh, but I also had to stop and consider how most of the material, if done by a non African American, would be considered highly racist. So why is Dave allowed to get away with it?

Yeah, I understand that's why it's allowed, but that doesn't mean it's right. Racist is racist. We should hold everyone to the same standards.

I know. But there are a lot of people that think because the white man got away with it for so many years, that it is payback time.
I think it is wrong, but a lot of his stuff is funny.
I saw an interview in a magazine with Dave Chappelle once - I think it was in Blender. The interviewer was talking about Eminem's success and how a lot of people think that if he weren't white, he wouldn't be as famous as a rapper. So then the interviewer asked Dave Chappelle, "What would people think of you if you were white?"
He answered, "The biggest racist on the face of the Earth."
Don't misunderstand me. I don't think Dave shouldn't say those things. I think EVERYONE ought to be able to say those things. As long as it is in the name of humor, then I think everything should be fair game for everyone.

I've often thought that about comedy in general, Beefy.
I feel like that if you're making fun of everyone equally, it's fair game.

i think its sort of different historically and culturally.
In the past when a famous and rich white guy would make jokes and say shit about blacks and Jews, people would DIE.
if a black guy did it no one took them seriously anyway.
I think that the best comedy is comedy that is devoid of political correctness, or makes fun of it. And the thing about stereotypes is that quite often they really are true, and that's why they are funny.
It seems like it rolls off of some people while other people seem to strive to feel victimized.
