I really liked the first Royksopp CD and have been excited ever since hearing that a new release was forthcoming. I didn't expect much, just some nice more-of-the-same.
It's so good.
Well, so far, anyway. I'm not that far into it, but I'm really liking what I'm hearing. I find it exciting when a musical act you already were happy with surprises you by getting better.
And, because I'm just that type of guy, you will slowly but surely find the whole damn album in the dump.
Try "Only This Moment" as an indicator of what to expect.

Wish that I was on ol' Royksopp
Down in the Tennessee hills
Aint' no smoggy smoke on Royksopp
Ain't no telephone bills
Once I had a girl on Royksopp
Half bear, other half cat
Wild as a mink,
but sweet as soda pop
I still dream about that.
Royksopp you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Royksopp
Royksopp Tennessee,
Royksopp Tennessee
Once two strangers climbed ol' Royksopp
Lookin' for a moonshine still
Strangers ain't come down from Royksopp
Reckon they never will
Royksopp you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Royksopp
Royksopp Tennessee,
Royksopp Tennessee
Corn won't grow at all on Royksopp
Dirt's too rocky by far
That's why all the folks on Royksopp
Get their corn from a jar
Royksopp you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Royksopp
Royksopp Tennessee,
Royksopp Tennessee
I've had years of cramped-up city life
Trapped like a duck in a pen
All I know is it's a pity life
Can't be simple again
Royksopp you'll always be
Home sweet home to me
Good ol' Royksopp
Royksopp Tennessee,
Royksopp Tennessee

Thanks, Dolly.
Just in case, I want to be sure everyone understands that Dolly has no connection to this album, as neither artist nor influence.
Different genre.

Kind of like how Jessie is starting to exhibit that she has no connection with reality. Rokysopp Tennessee, indeed.
;)
Okay, the first half of the album is now there. It's not high art, but there's some solid stuff. They're definitely wearing their Europeanism more on their shoulder this time.
gis for european shoulder

I'm not going to bother putting the other half of the album in there unless someone wants it. No point taking up space in the Dump.
Why couldn't they have picked a non-stupid name?

I'm sure it means something in some language or another.

Or they used a Ouija board to name themselves.
i like it. i wouldn't mind the rest of it.
Would I like it?
What is it comparable to?

it's a light electronica/popish sound. not so much lyrical, more about the sound of the music.

Is it worse than....a kick in the face with a golf shoe?
I like this rockysopp stuff. It's good.
My friend and I agree track 3 doesn't belong on the album. It sounds too incongruent with the rest.
Interestingly enough, it's the second half of the album, the stuff I haven't posted, that I listen to more. Some good stuff.
I'll try and remember to post some more later.
And, FWIW:
QuoteRokysopp is a made-up word compound consisting of 'royk,' the imperative 'smoke!', and 'sopp,' meaning 'mushroom.' Together the words conjure the images of two things: a small, spherical fungus that puffs when it collides with something—a fond memory from childhood shared between the two—and an atomic mushroom cloud.
