Title: Grocery Shopping
Post by: cnamon on June 30, 2005, 09:52:36 AM
How often do you go?  Have you ever had groceries delivered?

I am using Peapod by Giant to get my groceries this month because I don't have time during the week to go to the grocery store, and I fear going on Saturday because of the lines.

This will be the first time since the end of April that I have had to get groceries.

We usually go once every two weeks.  We go to a meat market to get our meat.  The cuts are much better, and the prices are, too, since that's all they do there.

I go to the grocery store pretty much everyday but that's mostly because I like to flirt with the 15-year-old bagger girls.

We have Simon Delivers, and liked it.  The only problem is produce, especially in the winter.  We like shopping, and have some cool Super Targets near our house, so it becomes a family trip when we do go out.

When I'm doing the adult thing and actually living on my own, I go once a week.

THat might change now that it's just gonna be me and Timothy.

Right now my choices are ramen, vodka, champagne, and chicken that needs to be thawed.  Oh!  I also have fish sticks!

I really need to get some food.

Hell, where I live now pizza delivery isn't even an option.

Can you come down to DC this weekend?  I need a few things.  I am seriously NOT going to the grocery store.  I would rather pay $8 to have them delivered to me.

I think that having it delivered will cut down on a lot of my impulse buying.  And it will take me a long time to go through $50 worth of food on my own.

Kroger is my favorite grocery store.

i want to firebomb my kroger. i have carried rotten produce up to the manager's office to ask him if this is what he feeds his family. i also once fomented rebellion in the checkout line on a friday afternoon when there was only one person on a register and 15 people waiting to check out. the scan-yourself lines were down for some computer changeover thing.

i hate my kroger. i end up there because it's 3 blocks away, but i hate it.

i want beefy's kroger. his kroger is like kroger grocery heaven.

you didn't *ask* for it. i thought the whole thing was that you had *asked* your wife to pick up stuff for you and then she didn't. i picked up what you *asked* for - milk.

besides, it could have been a comment about buying that for dc, the man in the closet.

/me notices eo has been red lettering and flailing around a lot recently. must be catching. wanders off to make sure the batteries are the right kind.

I just got back from the grocery store, $424 poorer, but with tons of yummies!  Except, no sandwich rolls.  For some reason, those seemed to be a popular item just about now.

Yeah.  You gotta go to a beer store for booze.  At least in this County, they sell all alcoholic beverages at one store.  In Bethesda, hard liquor has to be purchased at a liquor store, beer and wine at a beer store.
Title: Re: Grocery Shopping
Post by: BigDun on July 04, 2005, 12:17:07 PM
In Tennessee you can buy beer in grocery stores and quick marts but have to go to a liquor store for everything else (including wine). And don't even think about trying to go to a liquor store on Sunday. You can't even buy beer before noon on Sunday. Cause it's the south and that God's day dammit!

I got "cuban sandwiches" at the store - impulse buy, new item - and I gotta say, though a bit odd, they're mighty tasty.  Ham, roast pork, cheese and pickle on pressed bread.

Where I'm moving you can't buy anything ever.

What's mini bottles?  Is it those little bottles like in hotel minibars?  Wasn't there some controversy about somewhere they use those to mix drinks instead of just pouring out of a regular sized bottle so as to regulate and prevent bartenders giving customers more booze than they've paid for?

Didn't they just change it to allow free-pouring of liquor?  And two of the three counties in this area have adopted local laws that allow beer and wine sales on Sunday.  The onle one of the three that doesn't is the one I live in.  However, you can still only buy liquor in bars and restaurants on Sunday.  Liquor stores also have to be closed by sundown.

Yeah.  Just like the ones on airlines.  There's always controversy over them.  They actually make drinks stronger and we are the only state that uses them.

I'm of the opinion that most liquor laws are f*cking stupid.  Sundays shouldn't be blue; no one should have the right to tell me I can't buy something because it's "God's Day".  It flies in the face of free capitalism.
