Title: The 78th best band ever
Post by: Beefy on June 07, 2005, 10:01:31 AM
Personally, I'm very excited to go get the new disc today.  I don't understand the hatred, either.

Eh.  They're okay, but all their songs song exactly the same.

Well, they do.  For example:  Yellow, Clocks, In My Place, I can't think of any other songs.

I love Clocks.  I could listen to that song over and over.

A better than average band but they need to expand and explore some new avenues.  I like their music, but like has been said before, they all tend to blend together.

I was just going to retract and suggest a lesser diety.

The new Dr Who is worth looking at.  So far, it's pretty good and keeps true to the older versions.

I read somewhere they've already shut down production on the show and the cast has left.  Heard anything like that?

I'm told I'd dig the new Battlestar Galactica as well.

The new BattleStar is fantastic.  I really love it.

Dr Who isn't shutting down.  Season 2 is a go.

I've listened to about the first 2/3 so far.

At first, I just jumped track to track to get a feel.  I wasn't impressed.

The opening track isn't the grabber that the last two albums had.  Not bad, but not particularly notable on first listen.

Then it gets good.   ;D

There is definitely an 80s influence in some of the music.  I thought of Sting more than once.  I also though of Duran Duran a few times.  The production levels are much deeper this time, and even the songwriting itself seems to scream THIS ALBUM WILL BE HUGE.  And it probably will.  In fact, after only one listen, I am willing to bet that the song "Fix You" is going to be one of those songs that gets played for dancing couples at weddings for years to come, much like "The Scientist" was on the last album.

Oh, and the first half of the disc is already in the Dump.  I made them bigger files to keep compression low.  So more will come as I have the patience to upload them as attachments.
