Jessie upgraded her Windows to XP Pro and now her modem won't work. If anybody knows anything about it, she was hoping you could call her.
I don't know very much about Windows anymore, so I couldn't help her.

I'll give her a call.
It's an SP2 update needed. We need to figure out how to download the update and burn it to a disc tomorrow. I looked quickly and could not find the file on the microsoft site. Anyone know where to find it?
If it is SP2, it is part of "Windows Update" foung in IE

They have it right, the plain SP2 for WinXP, I looked for it a while ago, but like Infobahn said, it was buried in the gawd-awful windows update mung.
The error that is causeing problems for Jessie is fixed in SP1, which is obviously included in SP2.
Don't for get to download the latest driver just in case Jessie!
Did the version of XP you installed not already come with SP2? I didn't think you could buy it nowadays without it?

I didn't think so either, but sure enough the Home version I bought 6 months ago, after you install it goes and downloads it. Stupid, they must have had a lot of the original discs burnt, and just don't give a rip.
The one I sent her is a noncalling home version of Pro that I knew didn't have SP2 as part.

Gotcha.
I still can't figure out the drivers for my modem.
Any help?
Check your gmail. I found one and sent it to you. If you have problems with the attachment let me know.
Thanks Reburn!!
You're all my heroes!
I installed the modem drivers. THat didn't fix it.
I installed SP2, left the drivers as they were, still not fixed.
I had to uninstall and reinstall the drivers a variety of ways before it finally worked out.
I ended up just letting the computer detect the modem and use the drivers in SP2 and voila!
Thanks!
