To me he looks like a chocolate lab/pit bull mix. His face looks more like a pit.

From the pictures, he looks like a black lab. I don't see any chocolate.

His fur is really dark. He looks black but in the sun he reflects brown. Maybe I am going color blind.

If he's not already, you may want to wait a bit for him to be neutered.  My sisters lab/pit mix is a big sweetie, but he never ever calms down.  May have been neutered too young, never had a chance to really mature.  Cute pup.

No he is not neutered yet but will let my mom know to hold off awhile. So far the main vote for a name is Neifie.

No I did not know that. He is getting his name from Neifie Perez the fill in SS on the Cubbies.  :)

I think so too. I just drove him back to mom's and found out that he belongs to me. I mis-understood my son when he called this morning. It was my Mother's day gift from my mom and John. It will end up being a family dog.

Is he snorting?  I love when they do that in their sleep.

He snorts and learned that his growl is cute. If you wake him up from a nap he does a few growl barks and then lays back down and goes to sleep. That is so funny, mind you I do not intentionally wake him up, I move and that is all it takes. He seems to be a smart one and I am very happy on that.

Ok I am a nutcase and my son came home with this little kitten last week. I and now a proud mommy of a puppy and kitty and am up half the night now with my newbies. Of course you know the puppy is Neifi and now there is Deelee. She is so cute and right now sleeping soundly.

Just a little more facts he is now 14 pounds and still getting bigger. He was so tiny when I got him. I still see 2  pups from the litter that he from and he far bigger than the others. I thought I was getting the littlest puppy but no..

I am not sure but he sure has some big paws now. He is not taller by much than his brood just wider and heavier. Everyday Neifi changes in weight and growth. I just think I am going to have a big doggie.

Update:

Neifi is now almost 4 months old and weighed in at  28 pounds. He has doubled his weight in one month. The vet just keeps saying he will be a very big dog.   :P

That's going to be a big dog.  Get a Sam's card if you don't have one already.  They have huge bags of food and treats for good prices.

I was mistaken on how old he was. From the vet we calculated that he was born around 4/15, so that would make him 3 months old at the posting. Yes his paws are still bigger than him and he is going to be a big dog. He also has a very deep voice already. Big dog on the way and I love him.  :)

Nope he is not as skinny as he looks. He is a very solid puppy. More wider than what the picture shows. I will try to get a better one of him standing.

He does try to be a really good boy. He does not mess the house when I am gone. He does have an annoying habit of barking at you when he wants attention. He will not stop until you start playing with him. Other than that he is a good boy.

I have noticed I am the dominant one. He pulls the barking on everyone else and he really only listens to me. He is really toned down with me except on Saturday mornings when I sleep in. He will sit there and bark until I wake up. He does not like me sleeping late.

I don't know where my Mr D.Lee is. I was not home all week and got home yesterday and now my kitty is gone. He is still not home tonight. He was a good kitty and I wanted him to stay in the house. My mom thought other wise. I am rarely gone during the week and poof he is gone. I don't know what to think. I will post tomorrow if he shows up.
