Title: ISO two types of music...
Post by: dazie on February 08, 2008, 12:17:26 PM
I'm looking for two types of music that I can load up on Kate's MP3 players- I need one full of "fall asleep" non-vocal music and one full of "wipe out background noise to do work" non-vocal music.

Any suggestions?

You could get some world music. Lyrics in a language you don't understand don't count as vocals.

Good ideas!

Kate's doctor thinks she might have sleep deprivation, and it makes sense, she sleeps with the door open and is usually the first person to go to bed.

We're hoping maybe some sleepy music will help her.

That would be extra lovely and helpful.  Many smoochies would ensue.

I've got some stuff that I'll upload for that too.  I'll just put a few from each artist and if you like them, I can post more from that artist.

does what she eats before she sleeps affect that ?  does any particular food make a difference.. just curious.

I'm not sure.  I know that when she'd eat a certain brand of grocery store take & bake pizza she'd get all freaky, and restaurant fried rice does it too.

But we've cut that out, and I haven't noticed anything in particular that sets her off.  She's a bear if she's hungry though- so right when she wakes up in the morning she HAS to eat.

Done, though I listened to it while doing so and realized there are some minor moments of vocality within.  They fit nicely, though.  You can always skip them.

Yay!

And smoochies ensued.

Can someone send me the pw for the dump again?  I keep losing it.

reason i asked, for a long while i never realized how much of a role certain foods played on a persons system along with genes. example, blood sugar levels etc.  it has a bearing on sleep habits, alertness, energy levels.

some music.... Hot Tuna- Water Song,   George Wilson-Hummingbird,

Well, with my MD telling me to "eat like a diabetic or BECOME a diabetic" we're paying a lot closer attention to the sugars in food and cutting way back.

We've had Kate's blood tested, and she's well within normal blood sugar levels, but yeah- there have been times when I've noticed her food intake has influenced her activity.

If you want some world music that I think would be great to sleep to, go to the dump and search for "Thaisme". It is an Irish language song I posted in 2005 that is very relaxing. I also posted some other Irish language music, but not so much suited for sleeping.

I'll check it out.  There's plenty of room left on her player.

I also dl'd some Vangelis, Enya, Kitaro and some Brahms (Yo Yo Ma playing a cello concerto)

She appears to be asleep, so let's hope it worked!

*cautiously*

I think it worked.  She was up bright and early this morning, and in a decent mood.

*knocks wood*

I just thought of something.  That Hawaiian dude.  WIth the long name.  The one who did that weird but awesome version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.  Timothy likes to listen to him when he goes to bed.

Bradda Iz.  We have a bunch of his stuff, the kids both know it well.  We heard it everywhere when we visited, and they got a little burnt out on it.

But I dig it.  ;)

I used to listen to ocean songs or piano music with no singing when I had trouble sleeping.
