Title: STAR WARS ANIMATED: TALES OF THE NEW REPUBLIC
Post by: Beefy on May 26, 2007, 02:59:47 PM
Word is not yet out if this is legit or not.  Great idea, subpar animation.  The 2-D in Clone Wars was much preferable.

Looks like two (at least) different animation styles.

The animation looks like -total- crap.

However, if you recognized Baron Soontir Fel -- you rule.

If you didn't you need to bone up on your nerdery.

I hope we've all learned that quality animation/CG doesn't necessarily make a story good.  As evidence, I offer up EP1, 2,and 3.  These cartoons at least look like they might advance the story a little better than the schlock we saw on the big screen.  <<crosses fingers>>

I don't mind parts of the animation.  I like the style of the people... but if you're going to stylize people, then you need to stylize the troopers and ships as well.  I think that's the problem.

Why they'd go with anyone other than Genndy Tartakovsky at this point is beyond me.

No.  this isn't Neil Gaiman's Sandman - Star Wars is not -story- driven.

They've added a bit more to the promo teaser.
