Title: All For One
Post by: JJ on May 21, 2007, 09:21:43 PM
OK a while back after James Brown died we had the discussion of "he a completely bad person because of episodes of sketchiness in his home life and that negates everything" vs. "his overwhelming and powerful contributions to the welfare of society outweighed episodes of lose-his-cool violence"

Set all that aside for 6 minutes and just listen to the song I sent to the dump. Really listen to it. It's JB at his best.

Try not to mind the quality of the recording, it is from an LP that apparently was very dirty.

Outside of really good music, what overwhelming contributions to society did he make?

Did you listen to the message and spirit of the lyrics in that song?

...he prevented riots after MLK's assassination, he owned radio stations, lots of things that I don't even hardly know about.

I don't really know if I have a point, but I find that song really inspiring.
