Title: ...like a hole in the head
Post by: Infobahn on March 03, 2007, 08:11:41 PM
I need another house, like I need a hole in the head.

Seems like our time in the rental house is coming to an end.  The owners can't afford to subsidize our living anymore (the rent is well below what the mortgage is), and the price they want for it isn't what we think it is worth.

So, we must move again. This will be our 4th house lived in the past 2.5 years.

We have looked at 40 homes so far.

That must be frustrating.

Did you get rid of the other two?

Yes, the other two we sold last summer.   We would be living in our car otherwise.

We just have until the end of April to make this happen...

F@#K!

Oh christ.

Well, worst case scenario, you just ship Andy to me.  I'll just sit around and clap and giggle at how cute he is.

I'm sorry you guys have been having such a rough time.  Though I think you can technically call yourselves nomads now... which is kinda cool.

I just happen to know of a wonderful house you could buy.  The commute may be a little rough, but hey!  Anything worthwhile is worth a little bit of work.

Sorry you gotta find a house under pressure. Crossing my fingers for you.

What's the big deal? Just make a giant island raft out of milk jugs and soda bottles all tied together in a giant floating island. You can even dump some dirt in one part and grow a palm tree. A PALM TREE. That's fuckin' tropical, man. You are on the Equators!

Oh man, that tropical ocean island raft of yours is going to totally rule. You can like, charge tourists lots of money to come and visit your raft island...and you can generate tons of publicity for the rainforest derainforestation epidemic. Then you can expand your bottle island to a virtually continental scale once the donations totally pour in.

Hot diggity, you gon' be rich!

End of April they didn't give you much time.  How is the market up there?  Comparable to the West?

Get a nice big tent.  It'll be comfortable temperatures soon enough.

The market is soft.  I think it is going to start getting better, but there are so many homes that are on the market.   This is a good development to buy in, but we could get more if we traveled farther.

We have know about the situation for a couple of weeks   HB is very stressed.  We would have a lot more options if she was working and she is kicking her self (I am not, she doesn't NEED to work).  She wants more of a house than I do.  This house would be 100% perfect if there was a basement.  http://greenstonehomes.com/HomeDisplay.aspx?i=42

We are probably going to make an offer today.

Wow.  A 4-car garage.

Neat floorplan - although a bit odd that you have to go through the potty to get to your clothes.

I like the bedroom closet joining the back of the bathroom. Mind you, only if the toilet is in its own room with a door.

The only issue I would have with that layout is where will you put the TV? Two of the walls have windows or a patio door and the other has the fireplace.

There's a media center right next to the fireplace.

Not too many homes come with their own garage turntables.

Above the fireplace, they have wired for a flatpanel.  There is also speaker wire for surround.  There will be some glare, but we will deal with that with blinds and LCD over Plasma.

There is a door on the toilet room.  The garage in what we are buying is more like an extended 2 car garage, no a full 4 bay.  I have pictures, and will post some later.  I am still waiting to hear from HB.

Well, I wouldn't like it, 'cause I do my hair before I get dressed, so I wouldn't like to go back in the steamy bathroom and have my 'do frazzle to get my clothes.  So, keep that in mind if you're thinking of buying me a house.

Pantene blows!

...I have been buying shampoos and conditioners that don't contain lauryl sulfates...the commercial shampoos strip all the oils from your hair, which makes it dry and frizzy. Oh man, we used to get this herbal shampoo around here that was awesome, then they stopped making it...which sucked...but there are natural hair care products that are far less harsh than most commercial BS shampoos that are full of sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate or whatever.

I'm all for sodium laurel sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate as long as my hair keeps doing the soft shiny thing it's doing right now.  Better living through chemicals is my motto.

I'd rather have sodium laurel sulfate than horse placenta in my hair.  It may not be natural, it may be worse for it - but at least it doesn't skeeve me out.

The offer is in, we will see in the next day or so.  Normally, builders don't go below list price, but we think they might be motivated.  We listed a bunch of things for the builder to add/finish (add A/C (it is plumbed - no condenser), landscaping, sprinklers, trex deck instead of cement).  We don't think they are going to bite on everything, but the sellers agent says the builder counters every offer, so what the hell.

Who is going to help me move?
