Is there a way to save a YouTube video to your computer?
Yes.
I have instructions at home... or rather, a decent video you can watch on YouTube that will explain it. But everything is blocked here - so I won't be helpful right now.
If you want to go to the user "Nicktendo" somewhere in his videos is a great video on how to do it.
Woop! I love well thought out tutorials.
Apparently there is a Firefox plug-in that will save copies of all videos you watch within the Explorer. I don't know what it's called, though.

It worked quite well, and now I have an mp3 on CD of the song I wanted.
Yay!
Thank you!
also, google video will let you skip the formality and save it.

But only if you have Google player... or some crap like that.

If it was just the audio you wanted, there was probably an easier way to do it. If your sound card is duplex, you could've just played the video and recorded at the same time.
I did it at work, so I don't know what I had available. I know I couldn't have done anything like what you describe at home.
It's all good. Knowledge is power and all that.

But power corrupts. So I guess knowledge corrupts.

Are you saying I'm corrupt?
Cool.
Well crap. I wanted to do this again but that video has been removed due to "terms of use violation."
:(
IIRC, there's now a Firefox extension for this.
ooo- so what Beefy hinted at is now a reality?

ooo- that works! Thank you!
He hinted at it because it did exist ;)
He just hinted at it in a non-helpful way. But that's ok.
