Title: Taco Bell has public service announcement
Post by: VikingJuice on December 16, 2006, 12:23:22 PM
This is real, they just announced via their company president, that Taco Bell IS indeed safe to eat and enjoy despite the recent outbreak of Ecoli in lettuce that arrived at TB's around the country.

I'm thinking they owed us that announcement BEFORE the scare even happened.  Have you seen some of the shit on their menu?  The only thing that makes that food tolerable is that they have really good sauce in packs.

We stopped at Wendy's yesterday, which was fairly busy.  The Taco Bell across the street had one car in the parking lot.

Our Taco Bell went out of business.  There's one about 4 miles away.

I have two within two miles of my house.

By the way, did you know that there are real sandwiches at Wendy's now?  I'm now curious what other fast food places have nowadays.

There's one less than a mile from here.

I love Taco Bell. All I ever get is soft tacos, and they never mess up my stomach or anything.

I really like Arby's market fresh sandwiches.  Real meat and cheese on real bread that's not a bun!  Imagine that!

I get steak soft tacos at Taco Bell.  I also like the beef and potato burritos.

On this drive last year, we stopped at Arby's.  It was really gross.

The Arby's Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich rocks. And you can get a cup of dipping cheddar sauce to dip your curly frys in for only 25¢.

I ate Taco Bell today.  There were others in the drive thru as well.  The people in your towns are pussies.

Who are you talking to?

If it's me, the Taco Bell I was talking about isn't in my town (we don't have a Taco Bell) - it was in some god forsaken boondock somewhere along I81 in Virginia.

Are you saying that all towns with Taco Bell restaurants are god forsaken boondocks?

No.  It was just happenstance that that particular Taco Bell is in some god forsaken boondock.

there is very few things I can brag about in life, but at least I truly believe I know good MExican food (better than Texans).  Taco Bell has one redeeming feature and that is the oft ignored Meximelt.

I'm not even a real Texan though I've been here for 20+ years but nothing, I mean NOTHING, that Taco Bell makes can possibly qualify as good Mexican food.  Sorry.  You've clearly never had truly good Mexican food by speaking such non-sense.

Besides, don't you live out west like in Arizona or New Mexico?  I forget where exactly.  But what I was getting at is that the SW states' versions of Mexican are all a little different and not all are like good Tex Mex which is what most people think of when they discuss Mexican food.  There are different seasonings, spices, and even different uses of diffferent peppers which gives an enormous variety to what counts as Mexican.  So from that standpoint, it's possible you haven't had much of the Tex-Mex Mexican food which would make your statement more valid.

But if you'd been weened on Tex-mex, you'd be embarassed to call anything Taco Bell serves as Mexican.

<<<Food Soapbox ends here>>>  :D

I was born in San Antonio, lived in Southern California, Have been going to Tucson since I was born and my mom has lived there for the past 17 years.  I've been to Mexico City, Alcapulco and Cancun.  All the food is different depending on the restuarant.

I wonder if Catchr could have been being ironical.

I love food from eastern and southern Mexico.

Mexican food is kind of nasty.  I'll stick with Tex-mex.

I don't think catchr's two sentences were so strongly related as certain readers have interpreted.

real mexican food is rather bland; sometimes having something low-taste in my mouth for too long turns my stomach.

??  Crack much?  REAL Mexican food is bursting with flavors.

I direct you to the cookbook "Cocina de la Familia" if you're curious.

I'm going to have to agree with hatt.  Tex-Mex uses a lot more seasoning.

geez, my late night pre-bed rantings really left a firestorm.

I'll clarify:

1)  Overall Taco Bell is terrible.  The Meximelt however, is pretty darn good.

2)  Personally I'm not a fan of Tex-Mex food.  Odd spices and seems mushier.  I just wanted to stomp on some Texans pride thats all.    Northern and Mexico City Mexican food is regionally what I've become more accustomed too.  I don't like Southern Mexican/Guatalmalean stuff that much either.

The two above statements were not meant to be related.

Ditto.  I'm quite used to, and therefore quite fond of, Sonoran food.  Jalisco-style cuisine is a favorite.

when you've ripped a crawfish in half and sucked it's brain's out through it's neck, you'll eat just about anything.
