Title: I have a case of the squigglies
Post by: Jessie on April 10, 2005, 11:14:08 PM
You know that squiggly thing your monitor will do if you have a phone laying by it and it rings?

Mine keeps doing that but without the phone in the equation.

Am I about to need a new monitor?

You may just need a degaussing.

Did you try pelting it with change?

In all seriousness, if there is no source of magnetic interference then your high voltage supply may be about to go. If you hear a loud pop and the screen goes black then it's time to get a new monitor. It could still have several months life if you can stand the wiggles, but it sounds like it's time to start looking for a replacement. I recommend a LCD screen.

Wrap it in tin foil.

Agree, but if you have to buy a monitor - LCDs are getting cheap.  Try Tiger Direct.

This is probably the best advice I've read all day.
