I want to start weaing sport jackets, as I think they are all that and a bag of chippos.  I'm not sure of the difference between the ones a hipster would wear with a sarcastic t-shirt and the ones that go with suits.  How can I discern?   What sort of shirt do I wear underneath?    What the hell is Houndstooth.

BigDun

I don't know about the first questions since I am way too old to be hip.

But this is houndstooth:

What does it matter who or how someone else would wear it?  Find one you like that you think looks good on you and wear it.

There's a difference between sport coats and suit sport coats?

There -is- a difference between suits and sport jackets.   It's not often you can wear a suit jacket as a sport jacket.  Sport Jackets are usually of heavier, thicker material w/ more casual pocketing.  Whereas the suit jacket tends to be lighter and somewhat more refined - sometimes they just don't work w/ khakis and a nice shirt and can be spotted.

Anyway,do any of you have sport jackets.  If so where did you get them and for about how much.  The stuff I am seeing online is like 300 bucks   :???: :???: :???: :???:

Go to resale shops.  Vintage sports jackets are the way to go & they're cheap.

That was how it was done in NYC.  Never could find one that was "me", however.

I actually just bought a sportcoat at the Macy's here in Chicago. I have a few, I usually wear them at social casual work parties with a collard shirt with no tie and jeans with nice black dress shoes....and a Viking helmet and beard of bees.
