so, instead of actually lusting after a pro-quality dvd burner, i'm posting in the hopes that one of you geeks knows someone who might have access to such a thing.

i have a great short film about the monks, a movie called "tibetville", and i'd like to make a small number of copies available for sale. everyone i know only has the kind of dvd burner that ... well - you wouldn't want to sell the copies you make on your home dvd burner. they're not as stable or as long-lived.

so. anyone have any dvd burning connections? i have monks on standby, available to barter....

You're kidding, right?

I want a copy of Tibetville. Oh please.
Underneath this flabby exterior is an enormous lack of character.

nope, not kidding. i need professional quality dvd burning. i take it, beefy, that you are ready to increase your real life karma points by about a zillion by hooking me up? i make no guarantees, but chances are good that you'll not be coming back as a bug in your next incarnation.

and i can arrange for copies of tibetville for anyone who is interested. it's a lovely lovely film. the first part of the movie is the creation of one of the sand mandalas - cameras were set in place for the duration of the construction and it's edited beautifully as the thing comes together in this ghostly way, while you hear the monks chanting. then there are a series of interviews, interspersed with images of the monks deconstructing the mandala, the ceremony of the pouring of the sand, and during pujas - the prayer rituals with the chanting and the big horns and the cymbals and all. the interviews are with the monks from the tour, several of whom escaped from tibet - they talk about why and how they left tibet, what their journey was like, what life at the monastery is like, and what it's like for them to be on the road in america.

i just checked the schedule - it seems that 2 my monks will be in houston between september 17 and 23rd. i'm not sure which two - i'll have to check. however, my guess is that you can count on dinner at least one of those evenings. for starters.

We'll have to discuss it offline.

Oooh, I'd love to see this!

Also, one of these days, I really need to come meet the monks.
we should have kept the quote pyramid up to rape Jessie in the face.

Come meet the monks sounds like a good title for a sitcom on Fox or UPN.

We should write the pilot and see if it'll get picked up.

Can we at least have hints of what happened?
