after my roommates med school graduation party we had some left over booze.
i told her that even though a lot of people said they'd come graduation night is hell on parties. normally we get about 70-90 and one keg and some hard liquor is enough...but nooooo we had to buy two kegs of high priced beer, a tub of sangria, bottles of red wine and make 200 jello shots. about 50 people came but then obviously had to go caues they had other places to be.
being the good guy i am i rent out the kegs and taps from a seedy liquor store.
i put down the deposit. i've been there 5 times before and though it says "return the materials in 4 days" i've gone as far as 9 days and never had any problem.
so 7 days later, i come back and return the stuff. (after emptying out almost a whole keg of skunked beer)
the lady takes the stuff to the backroom and says she is getting my paperwork.
some gap toothed zitty lad comes out and tells me since I was late they are keeping my entire deposit of $150.
he said you signed the contract (which i did). i tell him its never been a problem in the past. and he says "well it is now".
i think legally he is in the right so thre is not much i could do.
i ask him "well since i paid the deposit on the kegs and taps can't i have them". he says "no"
ii think shit i should have never even returned them.
i figure its better not to talk to the manager of a liquor store i hear it sort of like arguing with a pit boss or strip club owner.
but shit that sucks.
oh well karma for me wasting tax dollars
I had a keg stolen once.
Way to get repeat customers.

In a similar situation, my sis-in-law got caught up in the new Blockbuster no late fees thing.
She kept videos out for like a month, so they charged her for them.
My other sis-in-law and I were with her, and sis-in-law #2 told the clerk that she should get to keep the movies if she had to pay for them.
They let her have them, I think just to get rid of us.
