Loved the movie. I read that they all signed sequal contracts.  ;D

*kinda spoiler in tiny white below*
The original Marvin stands in line on the vogon planet. no speaking or anything, but he's there, which is kinda cool.

Speaking of spoilers, should I add a [spoiler] tag?  That way, people have to click to see it....

Beefy

That's one of the funniest ones yet.

Oh, back to the movie. I saw three people with towels at the theater.

dang it, i'm lost again.

I could change the post counts to base 8, if that would help.....

Beefy

I'm going to see it tomorrow.  I'm not taking a towel.

The folks on TF said you have to stay through the credits to see everything.

crap. :-\

ignom

I think we're going to see it tomorrow.
Underneath this flabby exterior is an enormous lack of character.

Apparently whatever it is comes straight from the book.

OMG- I am so taking a towel in.  HAH!

I keep a towel in my car at all times.  I'm so hoopy.
"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
I think so, Brain, but how will we get the Spice Girls into the paella?

meredith

I spotted that too, eo.  I thought the movie was pretty good, but it's been almost ten years since I read the book, and I'm not very critical of this sort of movie anyway.

Gamplayerx

Um, eo.  I thought we agreed that you'd actually write a REVIEW!!

dc, a spoiler tag would be very cool.

Jessie

We saw the movie this afternoon.

I thought it was really good, and we laughed a lot.

I think it was a great adaptation.  The thing during the credits wasn't a big deal eo, so you didn't miss much.

Do you think that the movie would make sense if you hadn't read the book?  I'm not sure how it would be for someone who didn't know the story.
we should have kept the quote pyramid up to rape Jessie in the face.

Gamplayerx

Still waiting for a review.  *taps fingers*

my brother doesn't know how to read, and he said the movie was alright. I did notice him not laughing as much as me.

Gamplayerx

How much of the story does the movie cover?  Were the Vogons sufficiently ugly?  Did cute little Marvin detract from his personality?  Review!

Beefy

I watched it.  It's cute and doesn't really warrant much scrutiny.  It didn't make me want to run out and buy the book.

Fantastic opening number.  Marvin was great.

There is little to no story thrust.  And the pacing is uneven (they could have trimmed it down to 90 minutes, no prob).

I see it as a film that you giggle at different things with repeated viewings.

dazie

I'm so not hoopy.  I forgot my towel.  :(

However- I did laugh at fairly inappropriate times, because I knew what was coming up.  I think the guys behind me had read the books too.

There were some things that followed the book quite well, some that I was wondering WTF?  But overall I liked it A LOT.  Definitely one to get on DVD, and perhaps see again in the theatre.

Good because it's PG- no worries about the kids.

The Vogons were ugly, but much nicer than I had thought they would be.  Marvin was pudgy, whereas I'd always pictured him thin.    AND- I never thought I'd say Zaphod was HAWT!  *lol*

my mom tried to tell me that Zaphod was Sammy Hagar.  :tsk:

OBB

Did anyone else find that Zaphod Beetlebrox seemed quite similar to a current President of the United States, in some of his hand motions and his Texan accent?
