I have a printer/copier/scanner at my desk at work.  I rarely have it plugged into my laptop or turned on, because I rarely use it.  About once a week something mechanical inside of it just starts moving.  Power isn't on, isn't plugged into my computer.  Why the heck does this happen?  It startles me every friggin time.

Something's breeding in your printer.  I'd prepare for the birth.

Be afraid.  Be very afraid.

it's probably doing a head cleaning or something, to make sure stuff doesn't dry up or get rusty and crusty.

The solution?  You've seen office space, right?

meredith

demons in the printer, poltergeists in the ink!

Is it a laser printer or an ink jet printer?

Ink jet.  I'm pretty sure Benny is right, but I got swamped with work and forgot to come back and say so.

You're going to feel pretty silly when it turns out I was right.

Modern inks get bored if you don't give them a shake every once in a while. Either that or you have to feed the printer paper covered with Ritalin.

I'm no printer au pair.

Dry then Catch

my vote is their split personalities are competing for dominance
