At first, I thought that was stupid.  Then I realized that if you have seven people watch it at your house, it's cheaper than going out to see the movie.  And you can totally have a circlejerk if you wanted.

Exactly, and if you have a great system to watch it, it's better than dealing with shmoes at the theater.  Plus you can eat and drink what you want when you want.

I can see this speeding up the bootleg process with better quality DVD's hitting the market and net quickly.  It might be good on the front end but I can see some bad sides on the back end.

I would pay $50 to be able to watch it at home, especially if it were in HD. I paid that much just to buy the tickets to Spider Man 3, and I had to sit in a crowded theater to watch it.

If you happen to see one of the prints of Transformers that has the "secret" teaser in front of it, please don't come back and ruin it for anyone.  It is supposedly quite fun and conversation inducing, but less so if you know it's coming.  We may want to discuss it here, of course, but let's do it in small print so we don't ruin anyone's fun.
