I get to spend the evening in the presence of my mother-in-law.  Her birthday was this past weekend and we are taking her out to dinner tonight.  The only plus I see to this is that I get to eat at my favorite mexican restaurant.

cnamon

I will never have mother in law stories.

I will live through yours.

Step 1:  Eat bean-heavy foods.

Step 2:  Carpool with her.

Step 3:  Profit!

Jessie

we should have kept the quote pyramid up to rape Jessie in the face.

Dry then Catch

maybe if you both drink a lot of margaritas and get stuck in a meat locker accidently, you will work out your differences for the better.

I guess as far as mothers-in-law go I'm doing ok.  I can't say the same for my wife.

My in-laws are okay.  They have their issues -- my mother-in-law takes forever to eat a meal (like, it would take a normal person 15 minutes but it takes her 40-50), speaks sooooooooooooooo slowly, has a TERRIBLE sense of punning humor, and calls three or four times AFTER you've already hung up with her from spending an hour on the phone talking about who knows what.  Also, my brother-in-law's wife (my sister-in-law-in-law) is a nightmarishly-overprotective parent.  It's scary.

My wife basically only has a problem with my dad, who has a short fuse and yells a lot.  Some of that is due to the constant pain he's been in for about the past 10 years, because of his hip thing.  But basically he just yells because I don't think he has that much patience.

My dad rarely yells.

My future father in law bitches about everything.  He is OK, but sometimes I get sick of the bitching.

Jeff is not a fan of my mom.  I don't think he likes her.  I don't care too much about that...she can be a royal bitch.

my dad yells a lot.  mostly it's embarrassing, but it's worse when my little sisters yell back, or my mom v2.0 yells also.

I don't believe I've ever heard my father raise his voice.  Not even to yell up that I had a phone call.  He'd put the phone down and come tell me.  Used to drive me crazy when we fought when I was a super excitable teenager - I'd get all shrill and he'd just keep talking in that calm, reasonable voice.

I don't want to talk about my in-laws.

My in-laws are old (they had Honeybahn in their 40s) so they are in their 80s.  They are "farm old" as they worked the land for 50+ years.  They are nice people, very old fashioned, and very slow and hard of hearing (FIL) and going blind (MIL).  They pose no problems for me.  They are just happy I am nothing like the asshole that was Honeybahn's first husband.

Jessie

I miss my MIL.  She was super nice.  I had a dream about her the other night.  Weird.

My dad doesn't yell, as he is dead.
Talk about a downer...
Well, it's TRUE.  He would have made the same joke.  Again, if he were alive.

He'd be yelling, "get me out of this coffin!"

well how did the dinner go?  :???:

It was okay.  She only embarrassed me twice.  So that wasn't so bad.

What did she do?

She just laughs really loud and talks loud.  And she ordered out of turn.  It was just annoying.

No, being drunk is funny.  Not knowing how to act in public is different.
